Jacqueline Jaques
Jacqueline is an elder law attorney at Severns & Howard, PC, where she assists clients in preparing themselves and their families to deal with disability, infirmity, and the end of life. Prior to her current employment, Jackie practiced Social Security disability law, helping clients work their way through the Social Security disability application and appeals process. In both her professional and personal life, she advocates for people dealing with disability, poverty, and lack of opportunity. She is motivated by her own life-long struggle with major depressive disorder and wants to help others, especially those with mental health issues, discover and use the strength that comes from facing disability on a daily basis. When she steps away from her mission to save the world, Jackie enjoys tae kwon do (she’s a second degree black belt), beekeeping (she’s managing to keep most of the bees alive so far), and playing guitar. She lives in Whitestown with her partner Tim and her children Tommy, Audrey, and Joey.
Joe Slaby
Joe’s earliest disability advocacy experience came from planning two events that featured people with disabilities. The first was for an author who spoke of his life experiences while living with a tracheotomy and using a power wheelchair. The second event was a power wheelchair soccer demonstration. Later, I personally spoke with Terre Haute’s local state senator and state representative at the WILL Center—a fellow IL organization—to advocate for the Center’s funding.continually influenced by others with disabilities and the impact they’ve had on my life. I’m a strong proponent that people with disabilities have a unique perspective on life and can offer those insights and skills to better the lives of people with disabilities along with all of society. I am a 2017 Indiana State University graduate with Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; and am in the process of filing for my CPA license. Currently I live in Fishers and work as a fund accountant in Carmel.
Dr. Douglas Woodwell
Dr. Woodwell is a passionate disability rights activist. As a person with a spinal cord injury, Dr. Woodwell facilitated a support group for other’s with SCI’s in central Indiana for a number of years. He is currently a faculty member at the University of Indianapolis and author of books Nationalism and International Relations: Norms, Foreign Policy, and Enmity.
Scott Burrows
Scott is the owner of the property management firm, DBA Burrows Properties which owns Taylors Bakery and Mozzi’s Pizza. Taylors Bakery is a gracious match sponsor for accessABILITY.
He is also a forecast analyst at Carrier. He is an army-veteran and serves on two additional non-profit boards, Ronald McDonald (Central Chapter) and Indiana Cancer Consortium. He frequently serves the Red Cross in various volunteer efforts around blood drives, fleet operations, disaster response and vehicle management.
Scott graduated with an MBA in 2019 from LSU with a concentration in Data Analytics and recently obtained PMP certification from the Project Management Institute. In his free time, he enjoys playing the trumpet and participating in league sports, such as basketball and soccer.
Sabrina M. Straub, MSW, LCSW
Sabrina M. Straub, MSW, LCSW, is Field Director and Assistant Professor of Social Work in the College of Arts and Sciences. Sabrina received her Bachelor of General Studies and Master of Social Work degrees from Indiana University through Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis.
Sabrina is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has experience working in community mental health centers, has worked as a private practition-er, and has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and families. Sabrina is a member of Phi Alpha Honor Society as well as the National Association of Social Workers. Sabrina was an adjunct professor at Marian for several years prior to becoming the BSW Field Director, and has assisted the program director in achieving full accreditation status for the program through CSWE.
Katy Myers
Katy grew up in Indianapolis and is a proud graduate of Warren Central High School and Butler University. As a kid, her report cards said “talks too much,” and then luckily in high school she joined the speech team. Her success on the team made selecting a college major pretty easy: communications. Katy brings her passion for presentation to every endeavor.
For over ten years, Katy has worked for nonprofits creating and publishing print and digital media with varying objectives. In 2022, she started NBD Public Speaking to help people deliver a speech like it’s no big deal. Katy’s practiced expertise in written, visual, and oral communications make her a great addition to any team.
Kelli Clark
Dr. Clark is an Indianapolis native serving as a Licensed Physical Therapist at Community Health Network for over 10 years. Kelli received her Master’s degree in Health & Movement Science from Virginia Commonwealth University and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Florida International University. Kelli is passionate about human movement and maximizing functional independence and participation for individuals of all abilities.
As a published researcher, Dr. Clark has authored academic texts on topics including exercise prescription for people with spinal cord injuries, Multiple Sclerosis, and Cerebral Palsy and participates regularly in panel discussions on adaptive sports and long-term rehabilitation needs for people with disabilities.
Kelli lives in Carmel Indiana and in her free time enjoys traveling with her family, playing tennis and interior design.
