accessABILITY announces Susan Ferguson as the Chief Program Officer

accessABILITY is excited to announce that Susan Ferguson has accepted the role of Chief Program Officer for the agency. Susan comes to accessABILITY with extensive nonprofit leadership experience and excels at creating conditions where teams thrive.

Susan’s education includes an MBA with a marketing concentration, in addition to a Master’s in Counseling, and a Certificate in Fundraising Management (CFRM) from The IU Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. In her past roles, she has demonstrated effective supervision and team development resulting in improved retention and performance of her teams.  In addition to leading teams, she has significant project management experience in a variety of areas including physical plant, marketing, training, grant writing and administration, fund raising, and events. Susan was previously the Executive Director at Prevail, a crime-victim serving agency. With her expertise in domestic violence and sexual assault, Susan will be an asset to accessABILITY in developing a comprehensive domestic violence and sexual assault program for people with disabilities including prevention and intervention strategies.

“Our leadership team needed someone with a keen sense of social justice, primary prevention and a sense of humor,” said Tammy Themel, CEO of accessABILITY. “Susan’s commitment to diversity and inclusion along with her flair for creating team cohesion meant it had to be her!”

With this addition to the leadership team at accessABILITY, accessABILITY is poised for growth to best serve people with disabilities in their own personal journey to independence. We’re so excited to have Susan on our team!
