Join accessABILITY for Empower Hour on July 15th from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm!
Jody May, the first blind culinary arts student at Ivy Tech College, is hosting a workshop with partners from Bosma Enterprises, teaching peers with disabilities how to navigate the kitchen safely and how assistive technology devices can serve all disabilities.
Cooking can be intimidating for those with a disability, yet it is a crucial part of living independently. Assistive technology can work to break down barriers in the kitchen. We will be demonstrating devices such as PenFriend, locking lid pots, double-sided spatula, liquid level indicators, and much more. With firsthand knowledge from those with a disability, you will learn how to be successful and confident in the kitchen.
Join accessABILITY, Center for Independent Living, as we host an empowering, conversation-based workshop around cooking with a disability where you will leave with newly developed confidence and skills, the latest knowledge of assistive technology devices, and a growing network of peers.
