Karly Sciortino-Poulter, director of The Arc Advocacy Network at The Arc of Indiana will be presenting The Road to SSI: An In-Depth Look at the Application and Appeals Process.
Many individuals with disabilities apply for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) through the Social Security Administration when they become adults. However, this process is more complex than many people realize or are prepared for. In this session, we will discuss how the disability determination process works. We will discuss the types of information individuals can and should provide to thoroughly document their disability. Individuals and families can also use this information to help gather appropriate documentation for the Social Security appeals process.
